One Room Challenge Week 2
Did y'all know that like 97% of home renovation is actually just cleaning up 20 years of other peoples funk? Yeah, me either. They edit that so well on HGTV. I just need to cut to commercial while a team of interns come in and clean it for me before the cameras go live again.
Oh, that's right....
..... I don't have interns. Or a show. Or any sense. Hahahahaha.
So Week 2 of the ORC has been spent getting projects started. I don't have much I can share photos of at this stage because, well, I have decor ADD, or DADD. It's a thing. I made it up, but it's a thing.
Primer is on the base cabinets and the cabinet doors, drawers and floors are in scrub down mode. Twenty years of dirt, oil and kitchen grime are being scrubbed off now. I did try out 2 methods on the laminate coated cabinet doors to find the best route.
The winner is *cue audience gasp....* NOT CHALK PAINT! Chalk paint kept rolling or rubbing back off once sealant was applied. I wasn't going for a rustic, worn look here so sadly I'll be hand painting everything with a coat of primer and coats of paint.
Many of the fun additions, like drawer pulls, have been ordered so I'm playing the "Stalk the FedEx Guy" game. A new rug has been purchased and supplies to get started are piling up in the garage. I can't wait until my week off from work to tackle the bulk of our projects! I feel like a kid counting down until santa comes!!!!
Hopefully this is last you guys will ever see of this boring, drab, beige, puke-inducing.... (feel free to insert any adjective you think fits) kitchen.
Xoxo,
Christina
